My name is Linda Bell, owner/instructor at The Hookery, my home studio in Hiawassee, GA.
I am a McGown certified rug hooking instructor with more than 25 years of teachers workshops experience and have been teaching the art of rug hooking since 1986. I am part of the teaching staff of John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC and hold ongoing bi-weekly classes in my home studio. I teach at private workshops also. Many rug hookers in my part of the country know me because of the wool I dye for them. I use several different methods to get bright, beautiful colors that they want. My studio shelves and cupboards hold all the supplies and equipment needed to hook rugs. I sponsor workshops in my home studio twice a year and feature different teachers from around the US and Canada. Wool applique’ has been added to The Hookery recently. I put together pattern and all the wool pieces needed to complete the pattern for my students and customers. I am frequently a vendor at rug hooking events as well as quilt shows, selling my hand-dyed wool and rug hooking supplies as well as the applique’ kits and patterns. Some of my finished pieces can be found for sale at ArtWorks Gallery and Gifts in Hiawassee, GA as well as the Blue Ridge Art Center, in Blue Ridge, GA. An assortment of my hand-dyed wool is also available at Fabrics Galore and Quilt Store in Blairsville, GA. |
